What is the process like?
A general overview of how my commission process work.
- First, you must fill out the commission request form accordingly to the art you wish: Pokémon Scenes or Illustrations and Characters. Only after filling it out and sending it to me, I can create the quote letter and send it to you, along with my doubts related to the request. I work on a 50/50 basis, so to start the sketch I need you to approve the quote letter by email and deposit 50% of the quoted value, via PayPal or Wise. I need you do it as soon as possible because that is the only way I can lock the production timeline in the quote letter. This deposit is not refundable, except if I can’t start your commission and need to cancel it.
- Sending the first sketch. As soon as 50% is deposited, I’ll start the production and send you around 3 sketches with color suggestions (if you didn’t communicate them in the form). At this stage, feel free to give any feedback comes to mind, I want you to be completely satisfied with your commission. We’ll do 2 iterations: I will send you the sketches, you will give your feedback, I will apply your feedback and return for final feedback and approval.
- After the sketch is approved, I’ll work on your piece until it is finished. During this time, I’ll send you some updates so you can follow the process. At this stage I cannot make significant changes to the design, only small changes that can improve the art. But I will not change anything without your approval.
- After the art is finished, I will send you a low-quality version with a watermark for your approval. If approved, the other 50% must be deposited. This step is skipped if you already paid the whole amount in advance.
- After payment, I will send the following files:
- high-resolution version, 300 or 72 dpi (JPG or PNG format), I can also provide PDF and PNG versions in CMYK.
- version for posting on social media.
Regarding the production time, on average, it takes me 1 to 2 weeks to create a complete character, from the sketch to the final rendering. For a complete illustration, it takes me on average 1 month of development, depending on the complexity of the art. This time also depends on situations beyond my control, such as if I get sick or have to take care of a real-life situation. I will always maintain open communication with you and all steps will be on the schedule, in the quote letter.
Payments
Commissions below or equal to $100 must always be paid in advance.
Commissions above $100, I split it 50/50 with payment of 50% of the value in advance. For amounts above $700, I can split the payment in three times, we will organize it on the schedule. But you can also pay upfront for any commission.
Commercial Work
I also do commercial work, you can contact me if you want an illustration, book cover, character design, prop design or concept art.
The commissions I provide are for personal use only. If you wish to commercialize it, please reach out and I’ll send you a licensing fee.
If you wish to commission art directly for projects that will be commercialized, send me a message and we will discuss the project. In these cases, I send a specific quote.
Licensing
Send an email to me about the piece you wish to license, then I will reply to you a quote with the licensing fees.
